The winning pair from the BDO National Golf League Championship receives an all expenses paid trip to compete in the R&A 9-Hole Challenge! Each year the R&A 9-Hole Challenge is contested the week before The Open Championship at the host course.
First staged in 2016 at Royal Troon, golfers who hold a registered Handicap Index™ in Argentina, Australia, Canada, Germany, Great Britain and Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa can compete in qualifying and earn an opportunity to compete in the R&A 9-Hole Challenge. In 2024, the R&A 9-Hole Challenge was hosted at Royal Troon. In 2025, it was hosted at Royal Portrush, and in 2026, it will be hosted at Royal Birkdale.
